facilities welcomes marc A. gomez as interim assistant vice chancellor
On October 1, 2009, Marc A. Gomez, Director of Environmental Health and Safety, took on the additional role of Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor, Facilities Management.
Marc began his career in the private sector after receiving a Bachelors of Science from Tulane University in Biology/Chemistry in 1978 and Masters in Public Health from the University of Michigan in 1981. He came to UCI in 2002 to deliver
comprehensive environmental health and safety services as Director of Environmental Health and Safety. His accomplishments in this role include the University of California, Office of the President Award for Excellence in EH&S, 2005, 2006 and 2008, the
Campus Safety Health Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) Award for Innovation, 2005, the
Focus the Nation Sustainability Award in 2007, and
Safety Health Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) Solutions at Work Award of Distinction, 2008.
Marc looks forward to working with the managers and staff in Facilities to provide dependable, customer-oriented services to the campus. Key to Marc's leadership style is integrating trust, respect, and teamwork throughout the organization.
In his spare time, Marc enjoys working out at the gym, spending time with his family and coaching his daughter's soccer team.
