crt replacement program

Note (04-28/208): The program has been extended until June 30, 2008. As an added incentive, the program will award a free 24" LCD monitor to the department that replaces the highest number of CRT monitors. 

Facilities Management and Environmental Health & Safety and Material & Risk Management are jointly sponsoring a CRT replacement program which offers $85 towards the purchase of an Energy Star LCD monitor purchased from UCI Strategic Source Vendor KST Data Inc.

According to Environmental Health & Safety records, there are still between 1,000 and 3,000 CRT's in use on campus. Replacing these CRTs could save up to $34,372 by cutting energy use by 343,715 KWH. This equates to a CO2 reduction of 407,302 lbs and is equivilent to removing 192 cars from the road for one year, or an air pollution reduction from 272 acres of forest.

To participate, fill out the program application form. The program details and instructions are on the form. Act quickly - you need to have your replacement monitor by June 30, 2008.
